1993 Mitsubishi Pajero in Sydney, NSW. After 6 month we unfortunately have to sell our 4WD "Roofus". We really thought about driving home with it to Germany because it is just a great setup with the tent on top and we will miss it so much. But we hope that someone else will have as much fun with it as we had... We bought it directly from a mechanic who checked everything before we left. So here are the details: Rego + full safety check valid until 07/2011 Mitsubishi Pajero "ECI Multi V6 3000" Mitsubishi 6G72 engine 6 cylinder 3000cc petrol engine Takes approximately 14 liter / 100km (that is 5 liter less fuel than a Toyota Landcruiser would take loaded with the same equipment) air condition (we used it so much and loved it, never travel without..) long range fuel tank (about 75 liter) bull-bar/ roo-bar power steering central locking system has not been smoked in Roofus comes with: roof-top tent: Setting it up takes less than 1 Minute. You sleep on the roof and you have an awning of 150x200m to sit in. Mattresses can stay on the roof all the time, so no lost space inside the car. The tent is rainproof but leaked a little while we travelled in Queensland in December (which tent wouldn´t ;-)). So we bought a big tarp to cover the tent. Now it is 100% waterproof. An aluminium ladder is included to get into the tent. We made a video for you where you can see the tent and how to set it up. Follow this link to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVEzSCX8nEo The tent has 4 big windows and 2 doors, with mosquito nets, for good ventilation. So it doesn´t get as hot as in normal tents. The original price of the new tent was 3200 dollars. bedding: queensize mattresses (150x200m), pillows, linen fridge (21 litre, runs on 12 cigarette lighter plug and 240 Volt mains) off-road equipment (large jerry can, tow rope, saw, shovel,…) camping gear (table, chairs, pan, pots, dishes, cutlery, gas cooker, gas bottle, and much more) build in two story shelf with 7 storage boxes (35 liter each). The boxes can be secured with straps so that you can fix them(especially good for offroad-tracks). There is some space left to store items beside the boxes. The shelf also makes it difficult to steal your stuff out of the car. Just park the car with the heck very close to a wall or a tree so that nobody can open the rear door and it will be very hard for them to get your valuables out. power lead: 25m, heavy duty inverter: Charge all your electronic devices with the second battery. red arc: Automatically switches between first and second battery so that you will never risk to flatten the first battery with the fridge or with the inverter (http://redarc.com.au/products-and-services/sbi-series-dual-battery-isolator) big second deep cycle battery: works much longer and better than normal ones toolbox Camps 5 Guide: Tells you where you can camp for free all over Australia, with GPS coordinates and many details (if shower, toilet, mobil coverage is available for example). Some of the most beautiful and untouched camps are for free... 2 gold pans + map of goldfields in NSW … and much more… As we are the first ones who travel with this car, a lot of these items are bought by us and not older than 6 month. There has been replaced the following in the last 6 month: two new tires spark plugs* alternator ignition lead 2 batteries* oil coolant pipes temperature sensor radiator* *These items weren´t really a problem, but we changed them because they didn´t seem to be very reliable anymore and we don´t want you to get in trouble with the car. So we fixed everything that could become a probleme in the near future. The car should be in a very good condition now and is a reliable vehicle for your journey. We had the car checked two weeks ago at a licensed Mitsubishi mechanic. We kept a folder with all receipts and documents for you. What else: We want to go back to Australia one day and would always try to get our hands on a 4WD again. There is just so much to see off the tracks that you wouldmiss with a normal car or van. Just one example: Drive your own car at Fraser Island (rental is around 150,- or more per day and you have to be over 21 years old). But there are much more beautiful spots around Australia and often very unspoiled ones. Mitsubishi Pajero is the most successful model in race history, including winning the Rally Dakar 7 year straight (12 times in total). There is a small dent (but no crack!) in the windshield on the passengers side.
